With only 8 days until the Interzoo Show starts in Nuremburg, we took some time last week to reflect on how far Henry Wag has come in the last year. 2017 saw lots of preparation in order to grow Henry Wag as a British brand developing products focused on the health and well-being of pets. 2018 has seen that vision being increasingly taken up in the UK and overseas.

Growing UK Stockists

In the UK we now have over 120 direct Henry Wag stockists in addition to a small number of on-line providers. The response from the independent trade at the PATS Sandown Show makes it likely that the number of direct stockists could substantially increase. This means we will soon have truly national coverage for consumers, who want to shop locally for Henry Wag’s products.

Henry Wag is also growing its community on Facebook and is accelerating its product development programme after feedback from consumers on the products needed.

Henry Wag Growing Internationally

Not only has Henry Wag grown in the UK but its strategy of working with national and regional distributors in key markets is also bearing fruit.

In 2017, we were pleased to be able to appoint Tijssen Goed Voor Dieren as our prime distributor for the Netherlands. Tijssen only supply the trade and is a major player in Dutch market from its base near Leiden. Having been founded in 1858, Tijssen is a bit older than Henry Wag, but shares the same philosophy. This is shown in its name which translates into English as Tijssen Good for Animals.

At the recent For Pet show in the Czech Republic, Henry Wag commenced initial discussions with Czech, Slovakian and Polish distributors.

So we’re looking forward to Interzoo which is the world’s biggest trade fair for the international pet industry. Manufacturers, wholesalers and service providers from over 60 countries will present products for pets and innovative pet supplies. Henry Wag is on stand 9-508c. Henry Wag has received a grant from Export for Growth to attend Interzoo. Export for Growth is a part-funded project between the European Regional Development Fund and the Department for International Trade, delivered by Business West.

And given interest from some American retailers, our MD is planning to visit SuperZoo in Vegas in June so we could have more good news in 2019.
